Why do you need lift modernisation service?

Modernisation is worth considering when your existing lift is becoming less reliable, more difficult to maintain or no longer performing as your building requires.

Recurring faults, ageing equipment and difficulty sourcing replacement parts can all make continued repairs less practical over time.

With lift modernisation, rather than replacing the entire lift, selected systems and components can be upgraded to address the areas that are affecting its operation, reliability or maintainability.

When should you consider lift modernisation?

The right time to modernise will depend on the condition of the lift, the equipment installed and the problems being experienced.
Some of the common signs that an upgrade should be considered include:

› Increasing breakdowns and call-outs

› Recurring faults despite repairs

› Worn or deteriorating equipment

› Obsolete components or difficulty sourcing parts

› Poor levelling or ride performance

› Slow or unreliable door operation

› Excessive noise or vibration

› Outdated controls or drive equipment

› Accessibility limitations

› Increasing maintenance and repair expenditure

However, these signs do not necessarily mean your lift needs modernisation. Some problems may be resolved through repairs, adjustments or the replacement of individual components. That is why, before recommending any upgrade, we assess the condition of your lift, investigate the issues you are experiencing and establish whether modernisation is necessary or whether a more targeted solution would be appropriate.

Modernisation starts with understanding the lift you already have

Our approach to lift modernisation

Before recommending a modernisation programme, we assesse the existing lift to understand what is driving the need for improvement and where investment will have the greatest value. This helps define a proportionate scope of works, upgrading what needs attention while retaining equipment that remains suitable for continued service.

We modernise passenger, goods, goods-passenger, car & vehicle and platform lifts across a wide range of manufactures and lift systems. And since we are an independent lift contractor, we are not tied to a single manufacturer, allowing the modernisation solution to be develop around the existing installation and the requirements of your building.

What we consider when planning your lift modernisation

Every lift has different requirements, and the priorities for modernisation will depend on the condition of the existing equipment and what you want to achieve. When assessing your lift, we consider several factors that help us identify where improvements may be needed and determine the most appropriate scope of work.

Support beyond modernisation

Once your modernisation is complete, the lift still needs the right ongoing care to protect its performance and reliability. DAUTI LIFTS can continue to support the installation through planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs, with engineers who understand the modernised equipment and the work that has been carried out.

Questions about lift modernisation?

Find answers to common questions about modernising an existing lift, including when to consider modernisation, what equipment can be retained, project costs, downtime and whether repair, modernisation or replacement may be appropriate.

How do I know if my lift needs modernising?

You may have noticed that your lift is breaking down more frequently, becoming less reliable or costing more to repair. Problems with levelling, door operation or difficulty finding replacement parts can also be signs that modernisation is worth considering. However, these problems don't necessarily mean your lift needs modernising. We can assess your existing lift, investigate the issues you're experiencing and help you understand whether repairs, modernisation or a complete replacement would be the most appropriate solution.

Do I need to replace the whole lift?

Not necessarily. Lift modernisation can target the systems and components that need attention while retaining equipment that remains suitable for continued service. The extent of the work will depend on the condition of your existing lift and the issues that need to be addressed.

Should I repair, modernise or replace my lift?

It depends on the condition of the lift, the problems you are experiencing and what you want to achieve. A repair may be appropriate for an isolated fault, while recurring problems, obsolete equipment or several ageing systems may make modernisation more suitable. Where a significant proportion of the installation is no longer suitable for continued service, complete replacement may need to be considered.

Can DAUTI LIFTS modernise my existing make of lift?

Yes. As an independent lift contractor, we can modernise passenger, goods, goods-passenger, car & vehicle and platform lifts across all makes and a wide range of lift systems. We assess the existing installation to establish what can remain and what needs to be upgraded.

How much does lift modernisation cost?

The cost depends on your existing lift, its condition, the equipment being retained and the extent of the modernisation required. Once the requirements and scope of works have been established, we can provide a quotation based on your particular project.

How long will my lift be out of service during modernisation?

This depends on the extent of the works and the systems being modernised. The expected programme and lift downtime are established during project planning, allowing you to understand and plan for the impact on your building before work begins.

Can someone visit my building before I decide what to do?

Yes. We offer a free initial on-site survey to understand the concerns with your existing lift, discuss what you want to achieve and consider the appropriate next step for your project.
